The Return of Great Movies in 2023The late 90s and early 2000s were a golden age for cinema, with some of the greatest movies ever made being released during that time. Movies like Jurassic Park, The Matrix, and The Dark Knight were all critical and commercial successes, and they set the standard for what a great movie could be.In recent years, there has been a decline in the quality of movies being released. This is due to a number of factors, including the rise of streaming services, which have made it easier for studios to churn out low-quality content, and the increasing focus on sequels and remakes, which often lack the creativity and originality of original films. However, there are signs that the tide is turning. In 2023, we have seen a number of great movies released, such as Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion, and The Batman. These movies are all well-made, entertaining, and thought-provoking, and they suggest that the return of great movies is underway. There are a few reasons why we are seeing this return of great movies. One reason is that the rise of streaming services has created a more competitive environment for studios. Studios are now competing for subscribers, and they are realizing that they need to make better movies in order to attract and retain viewers.Another reason is that there is a new generation of filmmakers who are coming up who are passionate about making great movies. These filmmakers are not afraid to take risks and experiment, and they are creating films that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.Finally, audiences are also demanding better movies. People are tired of watching low-quality content, and they are willing to pay for movies that are well-made and enjoyable.I am optimistic that the return of great movies is a trend that will continue in the years to come. I believe that we are entering a new golden age for cinema, and I am excited to see what the future holds. What do you think about some of movie trailers in 2023? Are you excited about the return of great movies such as Rebel Moon by Zack Snyder's Justice League? Barbie handed Warner Bros its biggest box-office haul ever, and delivered happiness to moviegoers at levels greater than Monet has ever measured. Here’s why that matters:In the post-streaming, new-Hollywood world, films for summer and holiday wide release typically deal in action and thrills, and audiences generally experience a range of emotions beyond just happiness.Barbie bucked the trend of summer hero actions and thrills and dealt much more joy for viewers. The joyed/happiness detected from viewers watching the Barbie trailer is more the 2x higher than what is typical for wide release movie trailers. While it helps having an icon like Barbie lead the film, other studios will surely look to tap into audience inner-child and recreate the joy and fun that Barbie brought to audiences this summer.Want to learn more?Schedule your demo today withAnurag Bist, Kishore R Anand-https://lnkd.in/dDiD6Mhf#barbiemovie #WarnerBros #boxoffice #audienceengagement #NewHollywoodTrends#SummerMovies#MovieTrailers#AudienceEmotions#barbiestyle #moviestowatch #IconicBarbieLead#AudienceInnerChild#filmmaking #MovieIndustryTrends#streamingmedia #emotionanalysis

#Apple and #AmazonMGM are leading the way in film strategy by investing in high-quality films and distributing them to theaters worldwide. #Netflix should follow suit, as streamers benefit from theatrical releases, and audiences still want to see quality films on the big screen.Executives across the industry should reconsider their decision-making and focus on quality and what audiences want to see, not their own personal biases and tastes. Theatrical experiences are still popular, and people want to see films that aren't just superhero blockbusters. This is good for business and investors, as well as for the art of filmmaking.#filmstrategy #streaming #theatricalreleases #entertainmentindustry #filmdistribution Yahoo Financehttps://lnkd.in/d7PixhYT

What does KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON's theatrical play mean for Apple and other streamer studios going forward? It's a big topic with a lot of unknowns, but one certain trend: more and more companies like Apple and Amazon have abandoned their streaming exclusive plans with high profile films in favor of exclusive theatrical windows as the pandemic and its peak streaming era fall further behind in the rear view mirror. It's always an honor to collaborate with the great Alexandra Canal as she tackles the story in her latest for Yahoo Finance."This certainly signals a transition period for [Apple] in terms of how they're going to approach content, especially with big prestigious productions and A-plus list talent like Leonardo DiCaprio and Marin Scorsese," Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at Box Office Pro, told Yahoo Finance. The film, which was distributed by Paramount (PARA), notched $44 million in its global debut this past weekend — a lukewarm opening considering its estimated $200 million-plus price tag but still a notable feat given its long run time, coupled withthe ongoing actors' strike. The movie will eventually air on Apple TV+ once its theatrical run is complete, although the company has yet to reveal when that will be."Studios have certainly remembered how valuable that theatrical window is — and that includes new players like Apple," Robbins said. The Boxoffice CompanyBoxoffice ProNetflixParamount PicturesSony Pictures EntertainmentUniversal Pictures#killersoftheflowermoon #dicaprio #scorsese #apple #amazon #netflix #paramount #universal #sony #boxoffice #movies #cinema #theaters #film #entertainment #trendingonlinkedin

https://lnkd.in/eMv73fyM?Netflix is lowering budgets and limiting creatives' freedom under a new head of film, continuing a trend over the last few years. One model for this is that in the early days of streaming, it made sense to take artistic risks because there was upside from attention, even negative attention, and because a more diverse set of offerings would be more informative about current and future customers' tastes. While Netflix can still grow, there probably aren't many untapped genres, and over time their revenue equation is more dominated by retention than growth. So this is exactly the path you'd expect: pay a lot to explore the artistic landscape, but once you've identified all the notable landmarks, just focus on those instead. It's a microcosm of how recommendation engines work: at first, they're maximizing variety to determine user interests, but after a few iterations of that, they basically know what you like and the revenue-maximizing choice is to show you more of it.

Looking for the first 10 #StarTrek movies on Paramount+ and can't find them? Don't worry, they haven't been shelved for a tax write-off or anything like that. I explain why the #StarTrekTOS and #StarTrekTNG movies are now ONLY on #Max.
